Biography
Paul S. Benjamin is an accomplished artist who began working exclusively as a professional artist after leaving a successful career in "Corporate America". He draws inspiration from a variety of sources including a deep spirituality, relationships, music, travel, and everyday life.
Paul creates vibrant, expressionistic and abstract collages and paintings that represent rich life experience. His use of color, texture, and form generate dramatic, interesting glimpses of his memories and concepts.
He has shown his work in the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry, The Vietnam Museum, the University of Illinois, as well as many other galleries. Recently, Paul was among a group of artists who traveled to Mexico City, Mexico for an exhibition. His art is part of numerous private and public collections.
Paul is making his mark in the art world and was recently featured in Daniel Texidor Parker's book "African Art: The Diaspora and Beyond". He will also be featured in another book to be published in the Fall by ArtJaz Gallery which represents his work in Philadelphia.
Paul has also worked with the Chicago Public Schools in the After School Matters program headed by Maggie Daley, Mayor Richard Daley's wife, teaching art to high school students.
Currently, Paul is working on a commission for the City of Chicago and its Public Arts Program.

“Art is an important expression of life that documents the thoughts and experiences of an individual. The artist invites people to agree or disagree with their perspective. However one views the art, their outlook on life will determine the meaning and significance as it relates to their personal experiences an ideologies.”
